Chapter 6

"What do we do?" I ask him, "There has to be something we can do to stop him".

"Eramus must be stopped, but first, we must rest" Cassius says, laying down on the pillows I threw on my bedroom floor. "My powers are going dormant, since I haven't feed in quite some time, so I will need to use the human ways of food, rest, and possibly waste removal"

"What was that?"

"I will need to use the humans ways of food and rest".

"No, before that".

"My powers are going dormant because I haven't fed in quite some time".

"Well, you need your powers working at their fullest if we're going to defeat this guy. Feed on me" I demand.

"Come again?"

"Feed on me when you're not strong" I say, while holding back a smile. I didn't realize how much that sounded like the song"Lean on me", I think

"I shall feed on an unfortunate transient tomorrow" Cassius assures me with a yawn.

Vampyres yawn? He must really be losing power if he's becoming this human-like.

"No, you're feeding on me. I insist," I say with emphasis.

"No, I will drink the blood of what you call a 'hobo' when I wake up tomorrow," Cassius replies in the same tone of voice I used.

"You're feeding on me, Cassius!" I yell, jumping on top of him, "Ha! Can't get away. Now, feed on me, before you lose all your strength!"

"Very well. I suppose you won't leave me alone until I do. You are a very forceful young man," he says, rolling over on top of me and poking his fangs into the area above my collarbone.

I fight to not cry out or struggle against him, because that would only bring my accidental
demise. The pain of his fangs only lasts a short time, before I feel a very peaceful, sleepy feeling that fills me with happiness. It's like the drugs they put you on at the dentist's office, only much stronger, I think to myself. I lose track of all time and can only focus on the feeling I get from the bite. I don't want this to end, I decide.

"Whoa! I'll come back later" a voice says at my doorway. It takes me a moment to realize that the voice was my mom's.

Cassius pulls away as I see her walking down the hall.

"I should probably go take care of that" I say before rushing out of my room.

"You didn't tell me you were that way, Elias,"

"Huh?"

"I'll still accept you if your preferences are a little...different"

Oh. My mom hasn't figured out that I was letting a vampyre feed on me. She thinks I'm gay, I realize.

"I'm perfectly fine with it, but it's between you and God," she adds.

"Thanks Mom. You don't know how good it felt to hear that" I say. It feels great to know that she'd accept me, even if I were gay.

"I can take you down to Hot Topic if you want and get you one of those buttons. Like the one that says 'Yay for gay',"

"No, I'm fine".

"What about the one that says 'This is my straight guy costume'?"

"Mom, it's fine" I insist, while I hear laughter in the distance.

"And your...boyfriend is welcome here,"

"He's not my-- "

"Boyfriend?" Cassius says from behind me.

"Oh hello," she smiles at Cassius, "I'm Hannah, Elias's mom".

"And I'm Caspian" he replies, shaking my mother's hand.

Of all the fake names you could have picked, you chose Caspian? I could have just said your name was Conner or Cameron.

"He goes by Casper" I say. Ha-ha, now you're stuck with Casper.

"As in...the friendly ghost?" she asks, fighting a smile.

"Yeah" I smile.

Cassius takes a step closer to my mom. "My parents have been fighting. My dad said he didn't want to see my gay a** in his house ever again, so I'm afraid to go back home. Can I stay here for a while?,"

"Of course you can, sweetie," she says, standing up to hug him, "Stay as long as you need. You know, I can call your parents and talk to them, if you want".

"No!" I yell.

"He's right. That would only make things worse. I'll be eighteen soon and then I will be able to get my own place. I've been saving up for a long time,"

"Okay, but just know that you're not in this alone, Casper".

"Thank-you, Ms. Ishoda"

"You can call me Hannah"

"Ow! Why did you do that?" Cassius asks after I smacked him in the back of the head.

"I could have taken care of that myself, you douche!"

"I believe you would be the douche in this particular situation. You are the one that insisted I feed from you, causing this mess in the first place. I was merely helping you clean it up. I am  quite lucky that I was able to influence your mother a little bit, or else she would have had some questions about me and decided that I'm a suspicious character. If that happened, I wouldn't be able to help you as effectively" Cassius says, opening up a can of lemon-lime soda.

"Why do you need that? Didn't you get your strength back after you fed from me?"

"I do not need it, but I like it," he answers, taking a sip.

"Well this is just great. What I am I going to do now?" I sigh.

"You will have to pretend to be homosexual. Very ironic, isn't it?" he informs me with a grin.

"My mom is probably going to get off the phone soon. This will be awkward," I groan.

"It's either that, or get her involved in the real issue at hand, which could possibly get her killed"

"Yeah, you're right"

"You do realize you have to put up an act in front of your mother now, right Elias?"

"I know"

"Did you boys eat supper yet?" My mom asks from the other room.

"Your mother is approaching," Cassius says very quietly. "You have to act like you absolutely adore me,"

"Fine!" I struggle to intertwine my hand in his.

There. Happy? I ask mentally.

This is adequate, he replies as he takes another sip of his soda and squeezes my hand.

"I asked if you boys ate anything...What's with that look on your face, Elias?"

Cassius laughs and scoots closer to me on the couch.

"Oh" I plaster on a fake smile "Casper the friendly ghost is just being a little too friendly,"

"You're such a tease, Elias," he chuckles, putting his arm around me.

You son of a b****, I think, not letting my fake smile falter.

Now, now, we have to be happy in front of your mother, he scoots even closer to me.

"I just got off the phone with Hanako," my mom says, sitting down.

"Oh no. What did you tell her, Mom?" I ask. Hanako Imamura, Tamaki's mother, is the biggest gossip known to man. When she hears about something, she will tell everyone that she can contact.

"Don't be mad at me, but I had to tell her what I found out about you, honey".

"Why? Tamaki's mom is the biggest blabbermouth in town! Now, everyone's gonna know!"

"Well, I told her I was surprised and she wouldn't leave me alone until I told her what surprised me. I guess I said too much. I tried to think of something to tell her other than that, but I'm a terrible liar. I'm so sorry, son".

"Well," I sigh, "Within the next twelve hours, everyone in this town will know that I'm gay".

Correction: Within the next twelve hours, everyone in this town will think that I'm gay.

Not only that, they'll think we are both gay and that we're together, Cassius adds, before opening his mouth to speak out loud.

"Don't worry, if anyone tries to mess with you, I'll kick their a**. It'll be alright, Eli,"

"Don't call me that, Casper," I say venomously. Cassius promptly stomps on my foot.

Don't screw this up, he tells me.

"How long have you guys been going out?" my mom asks casually.

"A...couple months" I lie.

"You two act close," she smiles, acting somewhat not like herself.

That is because we are bonded by the exchange of blood, Cassius's thoughts murmur in my head.

"We're in for it tomorrow," I say.
Chapter 6.

Cassius loves to embarrass Elias.

Yes, the people in his town will be douches to him. Maybe I use that word too much
