Faerie's Charm Chapter 7Chapter 7
After hours of tossing and turning, I'm finally in a comfortable position. My eyelids are heavy, as I enter the realm between awake and asleep. All thoughts and rationality that keeps me up at night leaves my mind and for the moment, all I know are the feelings of comfort and serenity. I also feel much more warmth than before and imagine a white light burning brighter and hotter as time goes on.
And then the alarm clock goes off.
"D*** it", I groan trying to reach for the alarm clock, but for some reason, I can't find it with my hand this morning like I normally do. I open my eyes and realize why I couldn't reach the alarm clock. I was moving around so much the night before, that I ended up falling out of the bed. This tends to happen when I'm really stressed. Well, let's see where I ended up, I think to myself.
As I turn my body, I notice something is wrong. Panicked, I quickly turn my head and see Cassius's face less than an inch from mine. Once I gather my wi

"What do we do?" I ask him, "There has to be something we can do to stop him".
"Eramus must be stopped, but first, we must rest" Cassius says, laying down on the pillows I threw on my bedroom floor. "My powers are going dormant, since I haven't feed in quite some time, so I will need to use the human ways of food, rest, and possibly waste removal"
"What was that?"
"I will need to use the humans ways of food and rest".
"No, before that".
"My powers are going dormant because I haven't fed in quite some time".
"Well, you need your powers working at their fullest if we're going to defeat this guy. Feed on me" I demand.
"Feed on me when you're not strong" I say, while holding back a smile. I didn't realize how much that sounded like the song"Lean on me", I think
"I shall feed on an unfortunate transient tomorrow" Cassius assures me with a yawn.
Vampyres yawn? He must really be losing power if he's becoming this human-like.

"But my father is...dead. He was killed years ago"
Cassius lets out a sigh "Yes, I know that now. I didn't know that last night. Well, I sensed that something was off when I came to the town Keiran said he'd be living in with Hannah. I sensed power similar to his, but it wasn't his. It was yours"
"I'm confused. How did you know my dad and why were you looking for him?" I demand.
Cassius lets out a deeper sigh this time. "I suppose I will start with how I knew your father. Get comfortable, Elias, because this will be a long story".

"There's a place far from here somewhere in the woods, where everything has functioned the same way since the 1500s. It was once ruled by two kingdoms, the Unseelie court, which is one of the two faerie courts and the vampyre court"
"I already know about the courts: the Nigh

"Okay, there are some problems we have to sort out" I say, taking a deep breath and letting out a sigh as Cassius waits patiently.
"Well, our bond cannot be broken" he states.
"I am your guardian until one or both of us dies. It's as simple as that. That is how the vampyre-faerie bond works. It is permanent and can't be taken back,"
"No way! So we're like...stuck together? God, this really sucks! What the hell am I supposed to do?" my temper flares. "What am I gonna do with a freaking vampyre as my shadow all the time? F*** my life!"
"Just like your father" he chuckles, which is not the reaction I expect.
"Anyway I promise I won't be a bother to you, since I caused this in the first place. I am not exactly happy about this either. I do not like giving my loyalty to someone, but it cannot be helped "
I suppose that's the closest thing to an apology that I would get from the rouge vampyre so I calm down and decide to accept it. "Alright then, there's blan

Then I hear... singing. A male's voice singing a note on "ah" that swells beautifully. Why is there singing? And why can I hear it?
Suddenly, everything is audible: The platinum blonde girl screaming bloody murder, the confused murmuring of the crowd, the sound of the two boys fighting, doors opening and closing, the pitter patter of feet walking, and the sound of my heavy breathing. There he is, his silver eyes reflecting light in such a way that they shimmer, his chocolate brown hair looking even more striking than the night before, and now wearing a white t-shirt and baggy black jeans with a chain on them. He can only be described as supernatural. It's the rouge vampyre Cassius.
The note ends and no one looks over to him. Apparently, they didn't add two and two together, because all sound came back right when he sang. If he caused sound to come back like that, what's to say he didn't cause this in the first place? And just what is he doing here anyway? I immediately

It's morning. I wake up with a groan, because I didn't get back home the night before until about 3 a.m. The first thing I feel instead of tiredness though, is a strange longing; a longing for something that I can't place. I just shake the feeling off as I'm getting dressed and pouring my cereal.
"Don't fill up the cereal to the top of the bowl like that," my mom says "you won't have room for the milk and you're wasting cereal," I turn around to reply but she's already walking away.
"What are you, the cereal police?" I mutter to myself.
"What was that?"
My mother is less than five feet tall but still has an intimidating presence. Her shortness is probably partly because she's Japanese. Well that, and her long, straight, black hair and dark almond eyes. Being three quarters-Japanese, I have some of her features, like the black hair and almond eyes, but definitely not the shortness.
When she's in the other room, I grab a han
Poetic PsychosisIn thirty seconds, the next shell would fall. Every night was the same, but every night Lorenzo experienced it as if it were the first time. His throat felt swollen; breathing was hard. He glanced around at the others; young men like him who had been shipped out in the name of honour and freedom. There was no honour in this, no freedom. Only death behind your eyelids, and a fear so gutting, that it carved out your innards and left you a hollow husk. Lorenzo tried to breathe, tried to assure himself that he was still whole, still made of flesh. They had lied when they told him he was ready.
Matteo ran towards him, arms out, rifle swinging uselessly at his side. He shouted for him to run, but Lorenzo remained motionless, unable to move as his friend’s warning was lost in the constant blare of gunfire. None of them were ready.
“The cycle is repeating. It is not safe.” The voice was soft and weak, yet it carried over the gunfire and battle cries without impediment.
